Our Mission

The Alta California Institute (ACI) is an educational and cultural organization that works in close collaboration with higher education entities and other non-profit educational and cultural organizations across the United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. ACI currently sponsors educational and cultural activities at educational institutions in California, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Building on the concept of “Our America/Nuestra América,” the Institute sponsors exchange visits of community leaders, educators, artists, and musicians from Mexican and other Latin American or Caribbean communities in the United States with counterparts in the countries of origin. The Institute works closely with key actors in the binational setting, including the private sector, educational institutions, government, and nonprofits and NGO’s. ACI is working with Américas to develop a robust interactive and integrated web site and social media presence on topics related to immigration policy, remittances, human rights, labor rights, trade, cross-border business practices and related issues.
